Let's do some crimes!

The thing about walking tiny dogs is that, aside from feeling a bit silly as a grown man walking tiny dogs, is all the other people who have dogs without leashes running around.

Now, it's not theoretically impossible to have a dog trained so well that you don't need a leash. How many people can truly say that, though? In spite of having an animal that's a handful of years old and has an IQ of three people anthropomorphize their animals. They seem incapable of grasping the concept of their dog not being a rational being capable of careful and considered decision making in the face of unfamiliar stimulous.

You wouldn't let your toddler run around and do whatever it wants, because it just doesn't have the ability to control its actions or interpret situations. This applies a hundredfold for a dog, and that should be pretty obvious for anyone who's not an idiot. And my dogs weigh all of seven pounds each.

So, the moral of the story is, if your dog runs over to me without a leash don't be surprised if I kick it as hard as I can in the jaw and it runs screaming into the night. This is the second time it's happened, though with different people. And both times the dogs would have bitten my dogs if I hadn't acted and hadn't kept in my mind how much of a danger it is for them. These dogs which are not only very small but also incredibly frail and probably aren't going to survive any kind of bite at all from a medium or large sized dog, even a 'play' bite, whereas the stupid brutes might cry like babies and run off witht heir tails between their legs if I kick them in the face but the chances are they won't even have a bruise the next day.

Now, the first owner was understanding and things were friendly, but the one tonight not so much. Fortunately her bitchiness was cut off very short as I discovered it is indeed possible to become 'hopping mad'. Hopping mad where you literally stomp up and down and sputter uncontrollably and can't even get any actual words out, but in a way that seems pretty effective in cutting people off from saying or doing things that will make you actually strangle them to death on the spot after their dog tries to bite your dog which weighs literally one tenth its weight and only by risking getting bitten yourself do you drive the stupid brute away because the owner is too stupid to keep the dog leashed and controlled and was actually laughing and smiling as her dog came over to bite your dog's head off because she's too fucking stupid to get it that her dog is not a human.

Even if it WERE a human, how can it have that much judgement and perception? It has no language ability, no way to really grok what even is or is not a dog or human or what when it's never seen anything remotely like it, and has a hunter's instinct and is approaching something small and furry which could well be a toy, a treat, or a rat for all it knows.

So obviously this got me thinking about the patriot act and the supreme court. I mean if I did commit some 'crime' like strangling someone who worked hard to bring this fate upon themselves, could I get away with it?

The patriot act seems to have gone off the radar, but it is a lot bigger of an erosion than most people seem to realize. Basically it comes down to 'we can do anything we want, any time we want, so long as we claim it's something to do with terrorism or national security'.

I know many think this is alarmist, but already it's been misused for union busting and who knows how many things that don't even make it to the general public. There's even the death penalty for 'cyber terrorism'...a term that's barely defined at all. So you write a virus is that cyberterrorism? Bully a 13 year old kid on myspace? Post on a messageboard about what an asshat the president is? Shit, it's fucking crazy!

Our constitution is also only as good as the supreme court, which has been stacked with people approved by bush and nixon. Before I realized that yes in fact 99% of the population seems to have virtually no logical ability or sanity and education does very little to remedy this and only people who are insanely driven and yet incredibly mediocre ever rise to any position of eminence whatsoever I might have thought well maybe even though they are politically motivated appointments they know what they are doing.

After all, it would be pretty fucking stupid, under any circumstance, for anyone to want to fuck with the constitution. Like the ten commandments, even if you hate america with all your heart you can't really look at the bill of rights or the other ammendments and really find much fault. We might not be so keen sometimes on not murdering other people or on not 'coveting' their wives but when it comes to being murdered ourselves or having our wives 'coveted' the vast majority of the populance comes out against this happening.

But, I realize now no one knows anything more than I do in the broad sense, or has better understanding of anything. I don't mean that in the sense that I am so great but there are no supermen, and unlike me (someone incapable of entirely fixing his mind) most people have some pretty fixed predjudices and broad generalization baked into their bones. This is going to be especially true of politically motivated appointees, and yet at the same time they really can't be anything that stands out from the pack much (ie someone who actually really has any integrity or convictions that cause them to actually make a serious stand on anything outside of the least common denominator of their basic political orientation). So it's a position that can't help but be full of beige blandish robots whose every future vote can be anticipated before the case even comes into consideration.

So now if I did kill someone, I probably couldn't even blog about it without getting caught. I might not be able to even chat about it in gmail! I can't even brag to my friends about it without actually leaving the house.

Worse, it also raises the question if all those times I jokingly talking about renting a truck and making a fertilizer bomb and driving it into camp david will come back to haunt me. Probably nothing would come of it if nothing else surfaced but what if due to circumstance it appeared I was a part of some similar plot someone did do some day? Aside from forthcoming government killbots and current day media blackouts that make it easier for the gubmint to start wars around the world without the death toll hampering their fun - and overpopulation, this is probably my biggest political concern.
